What I Wish an Elder Would Have Told Me About Menopause in 1 Line:
“When you find yourself lost – and you will – root down into the Earth
and gather with your sisters traveling the same path. “
Menopause is a rite of passage that has been kept in the shadows
Whispered about in hushed tones or not at all, and held in our society’s narrative as an unwanted, unfortunate time of life. A sign of aging which is equivalent to a cultural crime in the United States. The time when women start to shrivel up and fade away.
And I call bullshit on that narrative
Our silent suffering is NOT helpful, nor is it a sign of strength.
It’s a sign of the shame we carry in our bodies. We don’t raise red flags, we don’t ask questions, we don’t demand care and all of that keeps the status quo in place, unchallenged.
There is a taboo around this transition that creates isolation and shame, so we minimize our lived experience and ‘just push through’. We don’t know how or what to advocate for. We’re often told it’s all in our heads by the medical system yet our bodies tell us otherwise.
We’re denied care – not because of our lack of needing it - but rather as a result of decades of minimizing women’s lived experiences under a patriarchal healthcare system.
It's time for something new.
This wild ride is a ride that we've got the blueprint for and what if we could do it how women do things best -- in community. Gathered around the proverbial fire, carrying the best tools we know to carry with the best support we know to have, sharing wisdom we've earned and learned along the way.
That’s exactly what we’ll be doing inside The Medicine of Menopause.

~ REGISTRATION CLOSES APRIL 15TH ~
The Medicine of Menopause is a space to raise consciousness around this transition so we can go through it with more grace, solidarity, education, empowerment & a healthy dose of humor (b/c it can get real serious real fast when your clothes don’t fit anymore, and you’ve just had a hot flash standing in line at the grocery store).
When we keep menopause in the closet, the gifts that come with it stay hidden too.
This rite of passage requires us to step into deep mystery to BE the fertile space for what’s emerging within us. To reconnect with our reproductive energy that no longer makes babies, but instead births ideas, intuition and creativity.
Each woman’s journey through this liminal space is unique and so is the medicine received. If we subscribe to the current narrative of menopause, there’s no upside to this natural, evolutionary experience. And what I know about nature is that there’s ALWAYS intelligence to the process. ALWAYS. 100% of the time.
What is the unique medicine waiting for you in this process?
What’s emerging in the depths within you?
How will your transition bring more wisdom to the village?

When we do this together in The Medicine of Menopause, we:
-
Become more empowered by learning from each other and sharing wisdom.
-
Disentangle from the shame our bodies hold so that we can advocate for what we need & want.
-
Find strength in moving from isolation to solidarity in knowing we’re not alone in this often-bewildering experience.
-
Cultivate more compassionate and stop making ourselves wrong, pushing through or striving to be Superwoman with all her shit together.
-
Stop questioning our value & worth when we can’t remember a word or don’t have the capacity we used to.
-
Discover the intelligence that resides in this transition.
-
Make space for what’s emerging within us that creates greater fulfillment, alignment and peace.
-
Reclaim your creativity.
-
Get clear about what we no longer give a f%ck about and stop spending energy on those things.
-
Trust ourselves more deeply so that we stop giving our power away to things and people outside of us.
-
Quiet the harsh voices that say you should be doing/having/looking/being different than we are and embrace the resources we already have.
-
Create a new narrative that has more truth, transparency and acceptance and ditch the B.S. of women fading away after 40.
This is for women who are:
-
Anywhere on the perimenopause, menopause or post-menopause continuum
-
Interested in learning more about their bodies & how best to care for them now
-
Excited at the thought of straight talk about “taboo” topics
-
Curious about the deeper life & identity shifts this transition brings
-
Needing a safe space to land their heads, hearts and bodies
-
Wanting to know how other women are navigating this experience
-
Longing for community with other inspiring women
-
Feeling like an alien in their own body
-
Feeling lonely, alone and disconnected (I made this ESPECIALLY for you)
-
Passionate about changing the narrative of menopause and women’s health for themselves and future generations

What this salon IS:
-
A safe and inclusive space to talk about intimate things.
-
A place to learn from others and share wisdom.
-
A place to be seen, heard and witnessed in your lived experience.
-
A place to go deeper to understand how you’re changing and the impact of that in your life.
-
A place to rekindle your relationship with creativity, intuition and curiosity.
-
A space to connect to your heart and put down the heavy things you’ve been holding.
-
A place to cackle – because if we can’t laugh at this shit, then we’re in big trouble.
What this salon ISN’T:
-
A place for getting fixed or fixing others.
-
A space for polarization or ‘One Right Way’ thinking.
-
A space for figuring out how to be bigger, better or more (b/c you're already good enough).
-
A space for figuring out how to have & do it all.
There's nothing more powerful than surrounding yourself with inspiring women willing to travel into the Unknown together.
MEET YOUR GUIDE:
Lisa Welden
Transformational Coach, Retreat Leader & Integrative Medicine Practitioner
I created this group because it’s what I’ve wanted and needed and couldn't find. Because I don’t want other women to feel alone and isolated in their experience. I think there’s a better way to go through this experience and that there is an intelligence to menopause that doesn’t get explored or honored.
I believe when we bring light to something that has been hiding in the shadows, it has the opportunity to flourish and transform into a source of strength and empowerment.
For nearly 20 years I've partnered with people to create greater vitality & well-being through an alchemy of Transformational Coaching & retreats, Traditional Chinese & Functional Medicine, Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychology, Equine Experiential Leadership, nutrition and lifestyle alignment.
At the heart of all my work is helping my clients to create an embodied, heart-centered and trustworthy relationship with themselves which allows them to take tangible steps through the sticky parts of life, and towards what's calling.
I look forward to meeting you inside The Medicine of Menopause!

What are the calls like?Mondays are curated conversations we've all been dying to have. Part education, part conversation so we can better advocate for and take care of ourselves. Wednesdays are for diving more deeply into the lived experience of this transition and include time for journaling, conversation & connecting with other women and uncovering the gifts that menopause brings (that are often wrapped up in the challenges) so you leave feeling seen, heard and filled up.
-
How is this group different from other women’s group or other menopause groups? In The Medicine of Menopause, we’re focusing specifically on menopause as a rite of passage so we can dive deeply into this enormous phase of life and do it justice. This group is different from many other menopause groups in that we’re looking at the deeper life transition and spiritual layer that accompanies all of the physiological and emotional changes and how that impacts your life. We’re un-shaming this process to liberate ourselves and generations to come.
-
Is this group only for women on prescription hormone therapy? Or non-prescription support methods? This group is for all women, regardless of what path they choose to support themselves with. We’ll be exploring many different options with the intention of helping women to be better informed and able to advocate for themselves.
-
Who’s going to be in the group? How many: This is an interactive, intimate space where you have the opportunity to be seen, heard & receive support in a group of less than 20. Who: I welcome women from diverse backgrounds and all sexual orientations and tend to draw kind-hearted, genuine humans to my groups. Many of us have ‘sister wounds’ that have made gathering with other women a potentially scary proposition. We’ve learned to be competitive, judgmental and critical of each other. Knowing that, I design my spaces to help normalize this, and create an experience where we can celebrate each other, listen compassionately, be witnessed in our vulnerability and create new neural pathways for women to stop perpetuating oppression upon each other. In the end, we’re all a bunch of bitches going through some heavy-duty life right now and the last thing we need is to re-create junior high nonsense. If you don’t agree with this or aren’t open to participating in a diverse community, this isn’t the group for you.
-
What if my shit isn’t together? Please come. It’s ok if you lose words, have a hot flash, cry, are feeling angry, ashamed, confused or overwhelmed by life. It’s ok if you haven’t showered or slept well in days. You do NOT need to have your shit together or try to stuff yourself into life-sized Spanx to be here. We’re in the messy middle and what you call your “hot mess” may be the exact medicine someone else needs to feel validated and not alone in theirs.
